Classroom Update (September 6-10, 2010)

Last Week's Homework:                                      

Monday:  Penmanship (Pg 11) - Math (Homework Links 1-2) - Spelling (Pack wks. #2 due Thurs) - Science (Pg. 7 check point #1)                              

Tuesday: Spelling (Study works packet due Thurs - Wks 3) -Writing (2 paragraphs about the First Day - due Thurs) - Grammar (Wks #2) - Phonics (Wks # 9 & 10)                                                                                                   

Wednesday: Social (Worksheet # 1 - due Tues 9/7/10 - draw/color) - {Penmanship (Pg 12)               

Thursday: Math (1-3 Home Link) - Science (Pg 10-13 check point # 1 & 2)    

Friday: NO SCHOOL

 
Math: We didn't finish all of last week's lessons, so we will continue with lesson 1-4, which describes tools for mathematics such as clocks, rulers, and calculators.

Monday:  NO SCHOOL     

Tuesday: Review lesson 1-4 and do clock activity Pg 35. Hone Link Wks 12 

Wednesday: Practice with clocks and start lesson 1-5 (Pg 37-39)     

Thursday: Continue lessons 1-5 (math boxes Pg 39-31) Home Link Wks 14.                                                                                 

Friday: Lesson 1-6 (Equivalent names Pg 43-45, Home Link Wks #15)

Spelling/Phonics: Words with CVC e pattern (Packet due on Friday)

Words: ate, fine, rose, lake, life, home, safe, rice, globe, plane, wise, smoke, grade, smile, come                                   

Review:  clap, sick, crop                                             

Challenge: sneeze, escape

Science: We continue to discuss the main parts of plants and the functions that each part has for the plant.

Tuesday: Lesson 3 - How plants are grouped (Pg 14-17). Discuss parts of flower (Pg 15 check point #1 and Pg 17 check point 1)                                                                       

Friday: Lesson 4 - How plants grow. Look at different seeds and read Pg 18-21 (Pg 9 has check point #1,2 and Pg 21 check point #1 & 2)

Grammar: Besides statements and questions, there are two other types of sentences. They are commands and exclamations. We will identify the types of sentence and then write it correctly.

Monday:  NO SCHOOL     

Tuesday: Review statements/question command - Wks #6,7    

Wednesday: Exclamations Wks #8                   

Thursday: Continue practice commands and exclamations Wks #9/10                                                                             

Friday: Test!

Reading: Our theme is called "Keeping in Touch". We will discuss ways people communicate with one another, whether they are cock by or far away. We will read a fiction and nonfiction story about how people keep in touch.                           

Monday:  NO SCHOOL     

Tuesday: Intro vocab (read Pg 40-41) Wks #9 0 start story "Dear Juno" (Pg 42-65)    

Wednesday: Continue story "Dear Juno" and discuss Pg 66-67. Wks 10 story web together. Read "How we keep in Touch" Pg 68-71 (Wks 12). Write a friendly letter (Pg 72-73) - Due Friday

Thursday: Fluency/ Comprehension check from story. Phonics Pg 73 and Wks #14

Friday: Topic sentence Pg. 73a and review vocab and context clues  Wk 13 (together) and take week two test.

Social: Review Why people live in communities?
