Math: We are continuing to review multiplication facts using “Multiplication the Fun Way” stories and rhymes. Students should practice facts every night. They will also be reviewing money using decimals and base 10-blocks to relate them to model exchanges between tenths and hundredths. Students will also use decimal notation for metric measures and conversions of cm and meters.
Monday: No School.
Tuesday:
Finish Lesson 5-6 from previous week if not completed, review and practice multiplication facts for test tomorrow. Start Lesson 5-7 if time allows.
Wednesday:
Lesson 5-7 Use decimals to demonstrate tenths, and hundredths with base 10-blocks. Do journal pg. 114 together as a large group. The assignment is journal pgs. 115 and 116.
Thursday: Lesson 5-8, continue with base 10-blocks and decimals, explore place value for 1 and 2 place decimals. Do journal p. 117 together and assign p. 118 and Home Links wks. 144.
Friday:
Lesson 5-9, use decimal notation for metric measures an conversion between cm and meters. Look at SRB pgs. 218-219, discuss questions/ activity. Do journal p. 119 together do p. 120 and Home Links wks. 148 as an assignment.

Reading: This week’s theme is called “Getting Along.” Students discuss reasons or ways for “getting along” with someone else and why it is so important.
Monday: No School.
Tuesday: Introduction to theme and vocabulary, read pgs. 48-49 and review drawing conclusions. Do practice pgs. wks. 119/120.

Wednesday: Read story “Seven Spools of Thread”, pgs. 50-71, fill in conclusion map wks. 121 as we read. Do phonics wks. 125 ou sounds. Write a paragraph about someone you get along well with and explain why you get along so well.
Thursday: Listen to story on cd, Read pgs. 74-75 “Our Classroom Newsletter” Discuss text features and do wks. 123.

Friday:
Review vocabulary and dictionary skills with multi-meaning words. Do wks. 124. Review directions and how important it is to give good directions as well as to follow them. Practice with a partner. Test on Monday.







Science: This week our topic is “Volcanoes and Movements of the Earth.” Students will discuss volcanoes and earthquakes.
Monday: No School.
Tuesday: No class.
Wednesday: Review and read magazine and do puzzle.
Thursday: 
Discuss and do activities, finish wks. 24.
Friday: No class- Station of the Cross.
























Grammar: Linking Verbs, verbs that do not show any action, but connect subject to noun or an adjective in the predicate. Common linking verbs are : is, are, and am.
Monday: No School.
Tuesday: Wks. 103.

Wednesday: Wks. 104.
Thursday: Wks. 105.

Friday: Wks. 106 and test on Monday.





Social: Continue to discuss government branches and leaders as well as citizens rights and responsibilities.
Monday: No School.
Tuesday: No class.

Wednesday: Review pgs. 110 -113, read about the voting process pgs. 114-115. Do terms (2) and wks. 26 and 27.
Thursday/
Friday: Read pgs. 116-121 and discuss. Research one of the following people in groups: Thomas Jefferson, Harriet Tubmann, Helen Keller, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and September 11th heroes. Assignment- terms (5) p. 116.


Spelling: Words with “ou” sounds and packet and test due on Mon, Feb. 27th.

Spelling Words: found, town, owl, couch, bow, scout, round, plow, crowd, proud, clouds, ground, louder, bounce

Review words: drawing, lawn, hauls
Challenge words: snowplow, outline

Religion: Our discussion this week will be centered on the Lenten season.

Classroom Announcements:

This month (February)The students should be reading an adventure type of book for their A/R topic. Some examples of books they could read are Magic Tree House and Jake Maddax. Students should have read and done at least six A/R books/test by the end of February.

FYI- Please practice multiplication facts as well as the states. Have a great weekend!
