2011-2012 Meeting Dates: September 15, November 17, January 19, and March 15. All meetings start at 7:00 pm.

Members Present: Tracy Sholing, Nichole Graner, Emily Adams, Lindsey Walch, Tisha Frost, Michelle Meyer, Elisha Jacobs, Cindy Gosse, Katie Zarling, Libby LaRocque, Becky Sanderson, Alison Springer, Ann Baxter, Sharon Busch, Megan Moore, Andrea Goeldner, Susie Baab, Wendy Stumpf and Melissa Meyer

Appreciation gifts: to Ann Baxter for volunteer service as former SPA vice president and president and to Tisha Frost for principal recognition and welcome.

Minutes Approved. Cindy Gosse motioned, Libby LaRocque 2nd.

Principal’s Report:

A. St. Felix will be receiving accreditation over the next 2 years with the help of faculty by MNSAA which is the biggest in the Midwest.

B. Grants received- $5000 from O’neil for technology, $600 from the Knights of Columbus for classroom Bibles, $1000 from Mildred Pierce for religion textbooks which the series will be updated next year, $1000 from Campbells soup labels and we will be applying for the Doffing Foundation for the rest of the furnace expenses which the parish paid the majority of. Sales from candy bars will go toward field trips and other operating expenses. Catholic Aid will go toward subbing. Pizza Pete, the frozen food fundraiser will be eliminated and replaced with the CSW dessert auction.

C. Notices will go out requesting volunteers to help fold and stuff the Adopt-a-Child mailings.

D. Scholastic book fair was a success raising $3400 not including the online purchases which 60% goes back to the school library in scholastic dollars for purchasing new books.

E. A Heroes of God pamphlet will soon go home with children not as a fundraiser, but just as an option for parents to order books or CDs. F. Monday January 9th the parish will be running adoration all day. Students will participate at certain times.

Catholic Schools Week (CSW):

A. Members agree Olympics day was a hit last year with possibly decorating different colored t-shirts for the teams and having crazy hair day on another day.

B. Mass on Saturday before the spaghetti dinner will be a children’s’ mass with Michelle Meyer or Bradd Busch as possible piano players.

C. The talent show will be performed Saturday night at the spaghetti dinner and on Tuesday Grandparents day with no individual talents performed.

D. Tisha Frost will confirm the Barbershop singers to perform at the dinner again this year as well.

E. Monday could be a theater day with the children walking to the Broadway theather for a movie with water and popcorn.

F. Friday will be the dance from 1-2:30 with a DJ for under $300. Susie Baab suggested sliding at Wagner Hill for one or one ½ hours during the morning as well. There was discussion of a themed dance such as Hawaiian or 1980’s.

G. Mrs. Frost will organize the dessert auction at the spaghetti dinner this year. It will be a live auction which tables can bid on and share that night.

Fall Festival Update: $98,000 was raised in one day for St. Felix School at a very successful fall festival this year. Originally the term for the fall festival committee was a 6 year term, but given how much work it takes, the term has been changed to 3 year commitment of 6 people with 2 new people joining the committee each year.

Cheerleading: will be returning this year for the 3rd and 4th grade girls for 3 or 4 home games. Tracy Sholing will organize it and order new uniforms.

Birthday Committee: Sharon Busch and Nicole Solberg are purchasing $10 scrip and decorating doorways for teachers on their birthdays.

Watermelon Festival Chicken dinner: Kellogg Lions will be told St Felix cannot serve chicken dinners watermelon festival weekend going forward as they do not have adequate help for staffing. Melissa Meyer suggested a triathalon as a replacement fundraiser for the SPA. A committee of Megan Moore, Becky Sanderson, Elisa Jacobs, Andrea Goeldner, Nichole Graner and Melissa Meyer will begin research on it.

Uniform: Members agree adding a light blue polo shirt to the uniform requirements would please many parents and students. Alison Springer will present it to the school board for approval.

Shutterfly: Ann Baxter suggested using Shutterfly for photosharing instead of printing an annual yearbook. The website is free and scrip offers a 16% kickback. This discussion was tabled since it may not work without parental permissions of all children.

Christmas Play: Susie Baab requested a donation to the Christmas play fund, because of microphones purchase.

Computer Rights: Katie Zarling requested funds for McGuinny life skills DVDs. She originally could get them free off her computer through YouTube, but somehow her access has been blocked.

Treasurers Report: Wendy Stumpf has reported there is $4600 in the SPA account. Members discussed buying disks for 5th and 6th grade to sit on and possibly the entire school. Michelle Meyer will research cost. A motion to approve $1000 towards the cost was made by Elisa Jacobs, with Sharon Busch 2nding it.

Gift Card Give Away: Libby LaRocque won the gift card. As the meeting was adjourned, members were directed to look under their chairs.

Treasurer Report Approved.  Libby LaRocque motioned, Megan Moore 2nd.

Fall Festival Update - Committee members report that all is running smoothly for fest this Sunday.  Committee members extend thanks to all parents who are volunteering to help make the festival happen.

Marathon Susie Baab reports that $9500 has been budgeted for the marathon, $115 per student K-6th.  Prizes have also been purchased for the kids who meet individual monetary goals.  There will also be classroom goals with a special prize each day of the week.

Spirit ShirtsSusie Baab suggests new school spirit shirts.  She will discuss price and design with Brian Fries/Plaid Productions.  Members agreed that it was time for a new spirit shirt for the children.

Nominations for Vice President 2011-12 School Year and nominations for Treasurer 2012-13 and 2013-14 School YearNo one comes forth at this time.  Leah Wodele, Alisha Jacobs, Melissa Meyer, Lori Dunagan, Tiffany Risch and Sharon Busch were suggested by present members as possibilities to fill the vacant positions.  Tracy Sholing will contact this list of parents to find out who might be willing to fill position of vice-president.

Kids / 5th & 6th Graders Approval of Time for Libby LaRocque motioned to approve purchase of Time for Kids, Megan Moore 2nd.

Classroom DonationsLibby LaRocque motioned to approve donation to K-6th and Music Class, Wendy Stumpf 2nd.

Christmas Play DonationMegan Moore motioned to approve donation  to the Christmas Play, Libby LaRocque 2nd.

Date of Christmas PlayMr. Deiss will communicate date of Christmas play to parents through website, text, and email.

Pastor Appreciation and Principal Appreciation Day Members agree to donate on each.
